Spring is such an active time in Lake Zurich’s woodlands and natural areas.  At the Nature Park, the flowers are in full bloom.

Here’s Mary near a large stand of wild hyacinths.  After this area was cleared of invasive buckthorn about 6 years ago, the hyacinths popped up- no help from us was needed.  We absolutely love seeing them every spring.

On the sadder side, I saw this baby squirrel on a tree trunk.  Judging from its size, it was much too young to be out on its own.  I didn’t see a mother nearby so, sadly, it was most likely doomed.  The cirlce of life (and death) are nature’s way.  We’re glad that we have natural areas here in Lake Zurich where these “little dramas” can take place and the natural world can replenish itself.
